Cathbhadh, Cabadius
Chief druid of the court of Conchobar mac Nessa and one of the leading figures of the Ulster Cycle. He predicts the fate of Deirdre before she is born. He teaches Cúchulainn, who overhears him saying that the youth who takes up arms on a certain day will become the champion of Ireland but will die young. His daughter is Findchóem, mother of Conall Cernach. In some versions he is the real father of Conchobar. Macpherson's character Caithbath in Ossian (1760) seems based on Cathbad.
